Cameron Highland

1st October 2012

I always love Cameron Highland. The first and the only time I went there was last 2011, during a student fieldtrip. I love the coldness. I love the greenness. I love the fresh air. I love the serenity. This is the closest I can get to New Zealand after Kundasang. So yeah, having my wedding photography session in Cameron Highland is always my dream. Alhamdulillah, one of my dreams comes true. Thank you husband!

1st October. A day after the Lipis reception, I started the day with talking with Mak in the kitchen. We talked a lot since this was the first time we had a real conversation. Hehe. Around 8 plus, my husband asked me to get ready for our next agenda – outdoor photography session in Cameron Highland.

I love everything about our ride going up the highland – the view, the serenity, the feeling I felt, and of course the person who was driving. Hihi. It was just so sad to see the deforestation activities around the hills. It was frustrating that I was afraid by the time I am coming back with my kids somewhere near future, they won’t get to see the priceless view and feel the serenity anymore. Haihhh. Some people are just too materialistic!

Ok, forget about that for a while. We arrived at the Boh Plantation around 10 and we had to wait for Fadly who was on his way up. I was extremely in love with the sight, the coldness and my husband. Haha. I felt like I was in New Zealand due to the coldness and the gloomy weather. After done with the first session that was wearing white shirt and jeans, we headed to Anan’s house as Kak Sue had prepared lunch for 3 of us. Thanks a lot Kak Sue for being the host, for cooking scrumptious dishes for us (blame the cold weather for us being starving! Hahaha), for preparing place for our photographer to sleep and rest, for helping me with my dress and simple make up, and for helping my husband wearing his samping. Thank you so much Kak Sue! We owe you.

The second session was with us wearing our silver and purple dress and baju melayu. One of the places we went was a garden, where there were a lot of tourists around it. So yeah, we had been models for some of the tourists as they were thrilled to see a pair of gorgeous Malay bride and groom. Hahaha perasan! But hey, I am serious. They were so eager to take pictures with us! Some of them were from Germany, Brazil and I could not remember the others. And as usual, they congratulated us and I felt blessed with more prayers from the others.

We wrapped up everything around 5 and we bid goodbye to Fadly. I thought that was the end of it. When we went back to Anan’s crib, Anan was already home from work, saying that he already made a dinner booking at Kelab Golf Diraja. So he said we could not say no to this. Haha. Nice one Anan. So around 6 plus we went to the club and Anan treated us with the blissfully steamboat dishes. Why I said so? As it was getting dark, the weather was getting colder and we were freezing with just one layer of thin t-shirt. Therefore, hot and soupy steamboat was just perfect. Again, thanks Anan and Kak Sue! May Allah bless you with more rezeki so that you can treat us again in the future. Hahaha.

Around 8pm, we were ready to go back home as we are going back to Johor on the next day. The journey back home was breathtaking. For the first time in my life in Malaysia, I witnessed a big full moon. When I said big, it was really big. This was maybe we were on hilly area, so it made us closer to the moon. Yes? No? Haha. Whatever it was, I would not forget this night for the rest of my life. The freezing weather, the stunning full moon, the love songs played, and of course the husband right beside me.
One word to describe the trip – PERFECT.
Alhamdulillah and I know I was the happiest girl in the universe.

Aprilicious 2014

Assalamualaikum people. It has been almost four months since the last post. Life has been easier, and of course tougher due to stuff at work. Being me, it took me quite some time to blend in a new place. May Allah eases everything and I take it as a challenge to myself. I have been too pampered in my comfort zone so yeah. Before I forgot, I would love to jot down few things that happened within this four months of my new adventure of life - as a wife, as a daughter, as a new teacher and as a normal human being. January 1. On the very first day of the year, we had challenged ourselves to go on hiking up to Bukit Tabur. Well, we did not plan that. We just wanted to joinour photographer friend, Syib to take pictures of the new year. He did not tell us the height and the condition of the peak though. Put the blame on us, who were too lazy to google up and read something about it. We were like, emm sounds as easy as Broga Hill, so why not? So yeah, we woke up at 2.30 a.m and met Syib and an...

Cikgu Elun?

Assalamualaikum The kid:what is rumah panjang, kak elun? Me: err..its like a row of houses..long houses..where more than 40 families live under the same roof..but then they have divider for each house..we can find it in Sabah or Sarawak, but not in Semenanjung The kid: What is Sabah, kak elun? *cane nk jawab ek* Me:err..its ok..one day, I will bring the Malaysia map and we will learn some places in Malaysia, ok? Well, that was part of the conversation we had today. I have to teach Bahasa Melayu to this eight year old kid. I would say his mother tongue is New Zealand English because he was born here, in Kiwi land. Since then, he went back to Malaysia just for a few times. So, it is understandable if he could not speak malay as the other malay kids at his age.Its quite fun though, because usually you learn english and have to translate it to malay in order to make you understand. But, in this situation, I have to translate the Malay word to the English word. Its like the other way around...

5 things I do remember about my past Ramadhans

Assalamualaikum people Ramadhan 1425 @ October 2005 1. The kind hearted mix Maori-Pakeha makcik Dewan Makan would make my food ready for both breaking fast and sahur. 2. Sometimes, Kak Lane would fetch me at hostel and she would cook great dishes and we ate together with Syed as well 3. If there was no invitation from Kak Lane, Syed, Abg Ziad or Kak Pica, yes, I would sahur, buka puasa and terawih alone..yes people, alone, in Room 48 of Moginie Hall 4. I hardly cried because I was counting days to go home on the 5 th of Syawal, right after my final exams. Yes, we did have exams on Hari Raya Pertama. 5. It was hard and quite challenging as people around you did not fast. Not many Moslems around, Malaysians laaaagi la takde. But, Alhamdulillah, it was such a beautiful memory and hey, I did survived!
