Cikgu Elun?

Assalamualaikum

The kid:what is rumah panjang, kak elun?
Me: err..its like a row of houses..long houses..where more than 40 families live under the same roof..but then they have divider for each house..we can find it in Sabah or Sarawak, but not in Semenanjung
The kid: What is Sabah, kak elun?
*cane nk jawab ek*
Me:err..its ok..one day, I will bring the Malaysia map and we will learn some places in Malaysia, ok?

Well, that was part of the conversation we had today. I have to teach Bahasa Melayu to this eight year old kid. I would say his mother tongue is New Zealand English because he was born here, in Kiwi land. Since then, he went back to Malaysia just for a few times. So, it is understandable if he could not speak malay as the other malay kids at his age.Its quite fun though, because usually you learn english and have to translate it to malay in order to make you understand. But, in this situation, I have to translate the Malay word to the English word. Its like the other way around..hihi..I hope he will learn as much as he can so that he won't forget the bahasa ibunda =)
*Ya Allah, permudahkanlah urusanku*

Well..well..its the 7th day of Ramadhan 1429 (its 8th in Malaysia anyway..hihi)

how many pages of Quran and tafsir have you recite?

how much money have you infaq?

how frequent you perform solat terawih berjemaah?

how many times you have wake up for tahajud?

how many times you have treat people for berbuka puasa?

how many times you have cooked for fasting people?

i think, i wont have enough space if I were about to write all those things that you (and me myself) could do to maximize our amal ibadah in this barakah month
hence, i think i should stop wasting my time here and continue doing something beneficial =p
selamat meneruskan ibadah puasa dan memperbanyakkan ibadah semua!

*ikhlaskan hati kite dalam membuat ape2 sahaje
dan insyaAllah Allah akan permudahkan dalam apa jua urusan kita*

Haha..that is funny. Kids do say or ask the funniest questions.

Anyway, thanks for the comment Elun, the dance would have been even better if you had given your expert input.

I'm thinking...eight year old kid? shouldn't he be calling you makcik Elun? haha..naah...kita muda lagi kan?

And lastly, "Si Shah JEHAN??" really? haha..better be referring to Emperor ShaH Jehan, rather than Jehan Miskin...kalau Jehan Miskin, tak nak kawan kau dah..haha

Takder nak turun Palmy lagi?

Assalamualaikum people. It has been almost four months since the last post. Life has been easier, and of course tougher due to stuff at work. Being me, it took me quite some time to blend in a new place. May Allah eases everything and I take it as a challenge to myself. I have been too pampered in my comfort zone so yeah. Before I forgot, I would love to jot down few things that happened within this four months of my new adventure of life - as a wife, as a daughter, as a new teacher and as a normal human being. January 1. On the very first day of the year, we had challenged ourselves to go on hiking up to Bukit Tabur. Well, we did not plan that. We just wanted to joinour photographer friend, Syib to take pictures of the new year. He did not tell us the height and the condition of the peak though. Put the blame on us, who were too lazy to google up and read something about it. We were like, emm sounds as easy as Broga Hill, so why not? So yeah, we woke up at 2.30 a.m and met Syib and an...

5 things I do remember about my past Ramadhans

Assalamualaikum people Ramadhan 1425 @ October 2005 1. The kind hearted mix Maori-Pakeha makcik Dewan Makan would make my food ready for both breaking fast and sahur. 2. Sometimes, Kak Lane would fetch me at hostel and she would cook great dishes and we ate together with Syed as well 3. If there was no invitation from Kak Lane, Syed, Abg Ziad or Kak Pica, yes, I would sahur, buka puasa and terawih alone..yes people, alone, in Room 48 of Moginie Hall 4. I hardly cried because I was counting days to go home on the 5 th of Syawal, right after my final exams. Yes, we did have exams on Hari Raya Pertama. 5. It was hard and quite challenging as people around you did not fast. Not many Moslems around, Malaysians laaaagi la takde. But, Alhamdulillah, it was such a beautiful memory and hey, I did survived! Ramadhan 1426 @ October 2006 1. I was not alone anymore!!! There were 8 of us berbuka puasa bersama –...
